Summary
Twelve clinical studies evaluating whitening treatment effects using herbal medicine and acupuncture were systematically reviewed. The Korean medicine whitening treatment group showed an average 32% reduction in melanin index, and MASI (Melasma Area Severity Index) improved by 41%. Particularly notable effects were seen in melasma and freckles.
