Summary
A randomized controlled trial comparing 12 weeks of Guibi-tang administration with placebo in 84 generalized anxiety disorder patients. The Guibi-tang group showed an average 52% reduction in HAM-A (Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale) scores, with 67% improvement rate in accompanying insomnia symptoms. Heart rate variability (HRV) analysis showed significant increase in parasympathetic activity.
