Summary

Nine RCTs evaluating acupuncture for chronic cough lasting more than 8 weeks were meta-analyzed. The acupuncture group showed average 3.2-point improvement in Leicester Cough Questionnaire (LCQ) scores compared to controls, with significantly reduced cough frequency.

Conclusion

Acupuncture shows significant efficacy in quality of life improvement and cough frequency reduction in chronic cough patients, and can be used complementarily to conventional treatment.
