We also prescribe it, depending on the situation, for other joints such as the shoulder, wrist, hip and ankle. The cause differs by site, so we adjust the prescription after examination; in cases such as a rotator cuff tear or severe nerve compression, imaging and an orthopaedic assessment come first.

Q. Who typically takes Gwanjeoldan?

A.

Middle-aged people with degenerative arthritis, those concerned about osteoporosis, those with weakened joints from sports or trauma, and those with chronic knee, back, and shoulder pain typically take it.

📝 Detailed Answer

Middle-aged and older people with long-standing knee, back or shoulder pain, and those whose work places repeated burden on the joints, are the main people who consult us.

However, we do not recommend it on the lines of 'you are in the right age group so you should take it'. We prescribe only where it is judged necessary after examination.

There is something to confirm first: whether the cause of the joint pain is degenerative change, inflammatory arthritis, or another problem. There are cases such as rheumatoid arthritis or gout that need a different approach.

If you are worried about osteoporosis, please tell us at the consultation. If examination indicates it, we will arrange a bone density test. It is not a matter to substitute herbal medicine for without testing.

If needed, we also recommend orthopaedic or rheumatology care alongside.
