Summary
Twenty-two randomized controlled trials (total 1,834 subjects) related to herbal medicine treatment for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) were meta-analyzed. The herbal medicine administration group showed an overall symptom improvement rate of 76% based on IBS-SSS (Symptom Severity Score), significantly higher than the conventional medication group (53%). Improvement effects were confirmed in all aspects including abdominal pain, abdominal bloating, and bowel habits.
