Summary

A systematic review of 16 clinical studies (total 1,192 subjects) evaluating the effect of Korean medicine treatment (acupuncture, electroacupuncture, herbal medicine) for trigeminal neuralgia. The Korean medicine treatment group showed an average 61% reduction in pain attack frequency and 48% improvement in VAS pain scores. The alternative value of Korean medicine treatment was confirmed in patients with difficulty in drug control due to carbamazepine side effects.
