Summary
Acupuncture treatment efficacy in alopecia areata patients was systematically reviewed. A meta-analysis of 15 RCTs showed significant improvement in hair regrowth rate and recurrence prevention in the acupuncture group compared to corticosteroid monotherapy. Acupuncture was found to contribute to follicle reactivation through increased scalp blood flow.
