Acupuncture needles are very fine and different from injection needles, but that does not mean you feel nothing. You may feel a sharp prick, or a heavy or tingling sensation; fingertips, soles and the face are more sensitive. Please tell us if it hurts — we adjust the depth and stimulation.

Negative pressure applied to the skin increases local blood flow and relaxes muscle tension. We do not describe it as "drawing out waste or toxins" because that explanation lacks clear evidence. Marks last 3–7 days, and wet cupping is not performed for patients on anticoagulants, with diabetes, or during pregnancy.

It is insured, but with an annual session limit, and the co-payment rate varies by technique. It is limited or not performed in osteoporosis, a history of compression fracture or recent fracture, previous spinal surgery, or pregnancy.
