What is thread lifting?

Thread lifting is a procedure that physically lifts sagging skin by inserting special medical threads beneath the skin. Korean medicine has long used thread embedding therapy, in which threads are placed at acupoints to provide continuous stimulation, and in recent years it has become widely used for cosmetic lifting.

How thread lifting works

  • Physical lifting effect: Threads with cogs grip the subcutaneous tissue and pull it upward, providing an immediate lifting effect
  • Stimulates collagen production: Collagen and elastin are naturally produced around the inserted threads, improving skin elasticity
  • Acupoint stimulation effect: When threads are embedded at acupoints, qi and blood circulation is promoted, improving skin tone and elasticity together

Treatment areas and effects

Thread lifting is mainly performed on nasolabial folds, sagging cheeks, double chin, and neck wrinkles. For a V-line effect, threads are placed along the line from the cheekbones to the jawline, and a change in facial contour can be seen immediately after the procedure. Treatment takes about 30 to 40 minutes, and a quick return to daily life is one of its advantages.

Aftercare

  • Avoid rubbing your face firmly or massaging it for 2 to 3 days after the procedure
  • Avoid high-temperature environments such as saunas and steam rooms for 1 to 2 weeks
  • A mild pulling or stiff sensation at the treatment site naturally disappears within 1 week

The effect of thread lifting varies between individuals but generally lasts 6 months to 1 year. With regular treatments, accumulated collagen can help slow down the pace of skin aging.
