Acupuncture & Pharmacopuncture
Acupuncture
We look at the forearm as well as the wrist, because the muscles that move the fingers and wrist begin near the elbow. Muscle and tendon problems tend to respond quickly, while numbness from nerve compression takes longer to subside.
Cupping & Physical Therapy
Cupping Therapy
We apply it mainly to the forearm rather than the wrist, because the muscles that move the fingers and wrist are concentrated in the forearm. Wet cupping is not performed for patients on anticoagulants, with a bleeding tendency, with diabetes, or during pregnancy.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal Medicine
Its role is to regulate pain, inflammation and swelling along with systemic conditions such as sleep and digestion. Herbal medicine cannot, however, restore worn cartilage or reattach a torn tendon.
Chuna Therapy
Chuna Therapy
Wrist Chuna is not a sudden thrusting technique but an approach that moves the joint gently to widen its range of motion. Please do not endure pain — tell us and we will adjust the intensity.
Cost & Insurance
Cost & Insurance
Acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, physical therapy and Chuna are covered by health insurance. Chuna has an annual session limit, and herbal medicine is covered only for certain conditions. The scheme can change, so we explain the current terms at your visit.
Other Treatments
General
It differs a great deal with the cause. Tendon problems recover slowly because blood supply there is limited, and carpal tunnel takes longer for numbness to ease. Whether you can rest the hand is the single biggest variable in how long it takes.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
A condition in which the median nerve passing through the wrist is compressed, causing numbness in the hand, altered sensation and night pain. It is common in people who do a lot of computer work or housework.
Tenosynovitis
Tenosynovitis
A condition in which the sheath enclosing a tendon becomes inflamed, causing pain when moving the wrist or fingers. De Quervain's tenosynovitis is the best-known form.
Trigger Finger
Trigger Finger
A condition in which a finger tendon thickens and has difficulty passing through its sheath (the pulley). After bending the finger, straightening it produces a click, catch or locking sensation.
Ganglion Cyst
Ganglion Cyst
A benign fluid-filled cyst arising from a joint or tendon sheath. It is most common on the back of the wrist and is filled with a jelly-like fluid.
