One hundred twenty patients with trigeminal neuralgia were randomly assigned to acupuncture treatment and carbamazepine groups, and non-inferiority was evaluated for 8 weeks. Pain relief in the acupuncture treatment group was non-inferior to carbamazepine, and side effects were significantly fewer.
